Mama Mia...Here we go again!!

On the 19th, John nd I went and saw MAMA MIAwith my mom and dad. It was playing at Capitol Theater, so we decided before the show to grab some dinner at P.F. Changs. The dinner was delicious and the Broadway was amazing!

The MAMA MIA movie came out right after John and I got married. I remember my mom calling me after her and my dad went and saw it. She was crying because if you have seen the show, there is a song called “Slipping Through My Fingers”. It’s when the mom is brushing the daughter’s hair and getting her ready for her big day. So…while we were at the Broadway, we were teasing my mom about how she can’t cry when they sing that song. (She even got teary-eyed when we even mentioned it)

Well, the song came on, and the tears starting rolling down her face. She just couldn’t stop them from coming. I love my mom! Even though she doesn’t read this very often I just want her to know I love her so much!

I also owe a shout out to my dad as well. He was so willingly to go to MAMA MIA with us. (Even though I know he loved it too) I have the best dad a girl could ask for. He has always been there for me and I am so grateful for that. I hope we were able to make his Father’s Day extra Special :)

Birthday Recap

So, my birthday was great! John and I went to dinner with my parents at Sonora Grill. I absolutely love this place and I also wanted my parents to try it so I talk about it a lot. After dinner we headed home for cake and ice cream with The Huston’s and my parents headed to my nephews baseball game. (Sorry we couldn’t be there Mason & Kobe)

Carol always makes us cake or cookies for our birthdays, so this year I chose a German chocolate cake because it’s my fav!! John also had two cakes he bought…so pretty much by now we are all caked out till next year!

I got myself some shopping money for my birthday and Brandon and Jess got me a gift card to my favorite store :)

My birthday was a lot of fun! I loved being able to spend it with family and just relax. Thank you everyone for all the birthday messages, texts, gifts, and calls. I most definitely felt loved :)

Here’s a recap…

(Contemplating if I am ready to be 23)

Turning 23...

Well…today I turn 23 years old! My mom asked me this morning if I feel older today and to answer her question…yes I do! I believe a year ago when I blogged for my birthday I said that I was not looking forward t this birthday. As funny as it sounds, 23 seems so much older than 22.

As I have been married I am starting to realize that being surrounded by family and friends for my birthday is really the best way to celebrate. So that is exactly what we are doing. Tonight we have dinner, cake and ice cream with family and dinner with friends tomorrow :) We are also going to see Mama Mia at Capitol Theater this weekend and celebrating Father’s Day.

Because I am not very good at taking pictures, I am making a goal to capture every activity we do this weekend :) Because well…23 only comes around once right?!

Just for the record, I wish I was in DisneyLand today…

Pinching Penny's

Lately, I have been thinking a lot about how much money we spend on eating out. I have been horrible with buying lunch every day (even though I live five minutes away from work! Yeah, I suck that bad!). Since we were out of town for a week there was absolutely no food in the fridge when we got home and grocery shopping just didn’t sound like a lot of fun.

Finally yesterday I decided it’s time for us to be better with how much money we spend on food. I hate to admit this openly, but we throw so much food away because we never use it, or leftovers are never eaten…it has made me realize it’s like throwing money away! Who in their right mind would want to do that?!

So, I am not saying we will never eat out again…we are simply going to challenge ourselves to cook more at home and only eat out for special occasions (Like my birthday on Thursday haha and date nights :))

I need to get back in the routine of cutting out coupons and searching for deals... I kicked off my challenge last night by going to Harmon's with John and doing some grocery shopping. I actually took the time to plane meals and scoped out all the deals they had going on (which are really good right now)

I know I am not the crazy coupon lady, but who doesn’t like to save a little bit of money when it’s that easy!?

Don’t ask me why I am all of the sudden in this money saving craz and pinching every penny I can…. Maybe it’s because we looked at this house over the weekend and I am in love...

I guess I better start saving for it!

Wish me luck in my challenge! I don't want to have to throw anything away next time I go grocery shopping!

Ryan Shupe & The Rubberband

Saturday, we went to see Ryan Shupe & the Rubberband in concert at Sandy Amphitheater and dinner at Outback Steak House.

The weather was perfect and the concert was awesome! It’s a concert we look forward to every single summer. If you’re not familiar with this band, they sing the cute song “Dream Big”. And if you have never been to one of their concerts, I would recommend you go. They are so much fun and it makes for a great date night!

(John & his cousin Seth. My camera was taking forever to take the picture. They were getting inpatient :)

It is finally starting to feel like summer and I love it!

Las Vegas & St. George 2011

On June 1st John and I headed to Las Vegas for a much needed break away from work and school. We had so much fun! Our first day consisted of a lot of driving, but finally around three we arrived to our hotel. We stayed at the new City Center Vdara on the strip, which I would highly recommend! We were definitely spoiled with our room. Everything was so modern with touch screens. We loved it!

That night we ate at The CheeseCake Factory. Dinner was delicious and dessert was even better :) After dinner we headed over to Phantom of the Opera. The show was amazing and something else I would most definitely recommend it.

Thursday we got up and headed off the strip. There is a place called Buffalo Wild Wings that is a must when we visit Vegas. They have them all over the east coast, including Maryland. (Which is why my husband likes this place so much! It must remind him of his mission) We also visited one of the coolest malls off the strip. It’s all outdoors and they have every store you can think of. For dinner we ate at Lawry’s Prime Rib and Steak House and then headed over to see Beatles LOVE. I LOVED it! The music was great! It was so fun to sing a long and enjoy the show.

Friday, we met Brandon, Jessica, Carol, and Brian in Mesquite for some game playing (Yes we did play the slots) and also to enjoy a delicious buffet. We finished the night by driving back to St. George and taking a dip in the pool!

Saturday, we did a session at the St. George Temple, went shopping, and saw Little Mermaid at Tuacahn Theater. The show was way cute and the special effects they added were awesome! I love Tuacahn Theater and look forward to going every year. Hopefully next year we can make it down for Wizard of Oz.

I had so much fun spending time with my husband and the Huston’s. It was a great way to kick off our summer activities.

John and I definitely missed Charlie while we were gone, but he had himself a fun- filled week with my parents.

**Compliments of Dana & Eric Rollins (John's Cousin's)- We saw them while shopping at the outlets in St. George. Dana is preggers and due soo soon!!! Can't wait to meet baby #3!!! It's a little boy :) **

Paradise...We'll be seeing you soon!

We just booked a cruise for the Fall time :)

We leave out of here....

(San Juan, Puerto Rico)

Last year we went in a cruise out of Puerto Rico and it was absolutely gorgeous!! So...we decided to do another one. Here are the places we will visit this time...

(St. Thomas, Virgin Islands)

(Barbados)

(St. Lucia)

(St. Kitts)

(St. Maarten)

All of the places look the same to me :) But it doesn't even matter because we will be soaking up the sun in a beautiful paradise and eating all the food we want! I love cruises! They are the best vacations you could go on...and who knows...Maybe I'll be pregnant for this one :)
